I have to agree with Shimmilou. A guitar is either "in tune" or it's "out of tune". There's no in between. "Out of tune a little" is still out of tune. "Almost in tune" is still out of tune. "In tune" is in tune and that's the only in tune there is. If it's not in tune then it's "out of tune". I think what windwalker means is his guitar stays in tune really well. There is no guitar that "never" goes out of tune. At least I've never seen one or heard of one either. :D

Well, no, I don't believe it's anything like that. Pregnancy is a dichotomous variable. Being in tune is a continuous variable. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that no one is ever exactly (EXACTLY) in tune.

It was on of the "Kings", Albert I think, who said that a musician doesn't make a big deal of a out-of-tune guitar. They always go out of tune on stage...you have to be able to play them regardless.

No he wasn't. Particularly live.

But then again, neither are any thirds.

I still maintain my guitars stay where I put em, tuning wise. Down to a couple of cents. I defy anyone to tune to within a cent accuracy. Theres a hundred cents in a semitone. If that aint accurate, I don't know what is.

Electric guitar tone is transitory. So even when you get it right, it changes. It "drifts". Strings, tubes and speakers all change as you use them. Tuning drifts as you play. And you don't hear what I hear, or maybe it would be more precise to say what you want to hear is not the same thing I want to hear. We are all pursuing the perfection of something that can't be perfected. That's the "Zen" part. But it's big fun, isn't it?

Right. I usually tune my High E & B slightly sharp. Then if they drift low a bit, I'm still good to go.

That was the point of my comment above. It's a random variable.

As long as it's "good enough for rock n roll," you can, well, rock n roll.

My dick is bigger, way bigger I say and I know it is. I can pee farther than any of you including Mr Callaham and I can also say that having a huge johnson improves my guitar's tone to the point that Jimmi clawed himself out of his grave to admire my soulfull playing.

Is this a Strat forum, or the book club?

:D

I like chicken, too.

Peace & Love!
