This thread reminds me of two quotes from great men.

The first, by a great UK scientist, Lord Kelvin, over 100 yrs ago: "If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it."

The second, by Ceri-approved HST: "We can't stop here! This is bat country!"

HA! Anyone who previously had doubts about HST can set them to rest now we hear that he's "Ceri-approved"! If that's not a measurable seal of quality I don't know what is. 8)

If I remember right (I may not), HST always swore by a blob of bubblegum on the trem block for the ultimate tone. Wasn't there a chapter on that in Fear And Loathing on the Backline?

To whom it may concern,

Maybe it's just me, but when you all refer to "infallible web dogma" it really seems that you are belittling those who don't agree with you. It is a put down no matter how you want to slice/spin it. I don't see any other reason to label someone Else's opinion as "dogma". Considering this, it is understandable why some take offense. This is my personal feeling anyway.

:?: :?: :?: BS!! It is either in tune or it isn't. "Not by much" is still out of tune, so your statement about "never" going out of tune is bogus. :!: Yeah, my girl friend never gets pregnant, but if she does it's only a little bit.

Hi shimmilou: after this response earlier on this thread I don't think you get to complain about anyone else's choice of words.

Never been there, but I hear that Trenton (New Jersey) is nice in mid-August.

Maybe Ceri. But to me, pointing out a blatant contradiction in someone's statement is not the same as belittling their opinion. The poster said "never goes out of tune", then proceeded to say that "if it is out of tune it isn't by much". It is impossible to be in tune and slightly out of tune at the same time.

I've never been to either; Paris in the Springtime is an old Cole Porter tune.
