Any suggestions of cleaners to use or not to use on an amp? (The exterior)
Thanks!

Fill a bucket with water and throw it on the amp, best to do it outside

In all seriousness if it's only dust that you want to take off I use a damp cloth and wipe it down then dry it. I have never had any problems but if you do it make sure the cloth is not dripping wet you want it just a little moist.

Others might have better ways to do it, this is just me. Also I have never tried this but maybe you could use those cans of compressed air or whatever they are called that are used to clean keyboards and clean it with that, I don't know how well that works since I have never done it.

Good luck.

i use window foam cleaners. no alcohol kind, and a finger nail brush.
spray the foam on (foam is controlable to a degree) let set for a few seconds,
light circle motions with a soft nail brush. light im telling you, or just use a rag if the exterior is a high quality covering like on boogies, matchless, and the likes.
then wipe it clean. i have a friend that does his up in armour-all too.
(dont know if that part is wise or not)

Color-safe bleach.

Applied with a fire hose.

Minimum of 125 psi.

Repeat as necessary.

I throw mine in the bath tub about once a week whether it needs it or not. Gets the tube sockets nice and clean. Don,t forget plenty of bubble bath.

Bought a 66 Bassman 2x12 cab recently and the tolex was plenty dirty, so I used a little Orange Goo spray cleaner and used an old toothbrush and that got good and deep, then just wiped that away with a clean cloth...it came out very nice...I have used this on all my amps and never had a problem with it over the years...Although Arjays amps are pretty nice looking so may have to give his method a try

Thanks Arjay...just wish I would have kept that '59 Harvard...it was all original, speaker, tubes, everything...even the two prong cord...that one stings a little when I think about it...so to get that 125 PSI, do you pull out the pressure washer? Or are you breaking into the local fire hydrant :?:

Cool!

Remind him when he gets out here to give me a holler if he needs anything.

Will do...turns out his 5 Level School is out there so may be up to six months before he gets out there...recruiter was wrong...go figure...I went into the system, now that I am back to having access and found that out...like I said recruiters...not sure I have ever found one that got everything right :!:

If the Tolex is heavily soiled I use Spray 9 and then wipe off the residue with clean water. Then to get it glowing I spray on Armour All being careful to avoid inputs etc.

Nowadays I keep my amps covered when I'm not playing them, so I find that they stay pretty clean without any help. But when I have to clean an amp, I use Armor-All. Also works well on guitar cases.
