I have a used MIM strat, serial # MZ5107295....It has the oddest color/finish on it...a kind of flat burgundy metallic, no gloss whatsoever ...it 'appears' factory , but I can't be sure...the insides seem to have the same color faded out around the insides of the cutouts for the pickups and controls. Did Fender ever make a flat metallic burgundy red guitar? I've only ever seen them with the high gloss finishes....Can you tell what color/finish it should be by the serial number? Thanks

no, I guess it's not really burgundy, more metallic red...it's just the flat, non-gloss look is kinda deceiving...i have a pic, but even that doesn't really convey the flat, completely no gloss coat look of it, ..I'm now suspecting it's not factory, still looks really sharp though...here's a pic:

If I'm remembering correctly there was a series of "statin finish" MIM Standards (Strats and Teles) that started in that 2005/2006 range and ran through 2008.

I'm recalling the red like your's, a purpleish/blue shade (Midnight blue maybe?), and something else. They also had the black plastic parts like your's instead of the normal white plastic parts.
