ok so my original idea was to mod up a new guitar for me to use around college (i'd mostly have it in my room) and probably live i originally wanted to mod a squier classic vibe 50's strat (it's hard to get a cheap lake placid blue strat) but now i thought to myself that it could be cheaper if i modded a bullet strat but i like a finished neck... and the vintage style tremolo has a cool sound and feel... and don't get me started on the lake placid blue... what should i do? (i plan on installing a humbucker which i've kept for over a year and an 11 hole hss pickguard)

ok this is a college guitar. i wouldnt put a whole lot into it seriously. find you a nice cheap guitar you can mod and be done with it.
there are so many risks at college with guitars. thieft, broken, stupid dorm friends, and the list goes on. i wouldnt put a lot into it until you get there and get settled in for a good while.

true this is why i thought about the bullet but the only three colors that catch my eye are fiesta red, artic white, and black but i already have white and black guitars and the fiesta red doesn't look good with the mods i'm doing... plus if i save a guitar for too long i could get emotionaly attached to it and never go for the mod... (happened to my vm strat but it did look awesome) and i've dreamed of having a lake placid blue guitar for so long...

i like the colors blk and red together. i like a brighter red. im thinking a flat blk pickguard and flat blk plastic's. you just dont see that combo very much.
pearl blk for me doesnt have a place here. i want something different.

well i could probably go with cream parts... they just go awesome with a black pickguard and the zebra humbucker... dunno if it'll go good with red though
