I decided to catalog all of my Fender guitars and amp and a couple other acoustic guitars. While doing so, I found as I see many have, that their Eric Johnson Strat can not be dated through "THE GUITAR DATER" website, at least mine said the Ser # was not recognized. Yes, I did purchase from a Fender Authorized Dealer, so I know it is a genuine Fender.

That said, other than taking the guitar apart which I don't really want to do, is there any known EJ Strat serial # dating sites someone out there knows of? Thank you

The EJs are like the American Vintage series Strats - the numbered neck plates are kind of grabbed out of a bin so they aren't in any specific order. I don't think anyone has put together a database of how the serial numbers run on the EJs.

That being said, you should be able to get that info by emailing your serial number Fender's Customer Relations department. They should be able to tell you when it was shipped out to the dealer (and what dealer it went to originally). You can reach them at:

Thank you very much for the information on the sticker under the pickguard. My serial # is EJ10317. Judging by what you said about the 100, I would guess mine is after the 2005 mfg date.
