It's interesting. Keep in mind when and if you read the comments section that the author is dealing with matters in neurophysiology and physiological psychology..i.e: why and how we hear what we hear, or choose to hear. This is a behavioral science analysis.

Nice article...thanks.

Have to keep that in mind whenever the debates come up about "this wood vs that wood" or which "trem block material sounds more like what David Gilmour uses..."

I appreciated that about the series when it ran, for those reasons, as well as althe heated conversations we've had here. Remember, there are three installments, so enjoy all three if you haven't already.

Yes, read all 3 installments and it was very informative and interesting.
Best part for me, was the story of Eddie Van Halen visiting Steve Vai and picking up Steve's guitar in Steve's Recording Studio using Steve's amps and sounding like....Eddie Van Halen.
So much for that Clapton Signature Strat...

Thanks for the info on that article,I've saved it and read the first part,it's interesting.
Skimming through at some place it mentioned Hendrix and the different guitars he played and he always sounded like Hendrix....maybe a somewhat different tone, but still he had that style.
I could tell Duane Allman's playing anywhere, and with the Anthology album you hear him progress in skill and tone, but it still sounds like him.

Slide players are really unique. For example....blindfolded, Bonnie Raitt is Bonnie Raitt...whether she's playing her old reliable brown Strat, or that old Signature Series guitar they did for her back before the Titanic sank. I have no doubt that her brass slide and the way it attacks the strings has a bit to do with it.

Yeah she amazes me,and I love to hear her sing also.
Duane would fingerpick slide and when he was playing straight lead his fingerpicking would come in sometimes between flatpicking, very unique style.

Definitely not a chip off the old block. Has likely earned the same level of celebrity as her dad John holds, but their genres are at opposite poles of the music globe. Her dad had a great voice, perfect for the musical stage of years gone by.
