Hi everybody. I am really curious to find out when and where was the body of my guitar made. Also, what type of wood... I bought it 3rd hand, and the first owner replaced the neck with a rockinger one. The pickups are Fender custom shop, probably Texas specials, if I can judge by the red dot and the blue dot marked respectively on the bidge and neck Pu under the pole of the B string.

I dont know how to post an image, so I will tell you that it is a cherry sunburst, and inside the body cavity, is a tag (under the laquer) with a barcode and the serial number M00222011.

Hi spdphoto,

Upload your pictures to a publicly viewable site such as Photobucket (free). Once uploaded to the site, each pic will have an "IMG" code, simply copy the code and paste into your post here. Then, when you click "Preview" or "Submit" your pic will show in your post. :)

The code will look like the one inside the code box below.
Code:

i know it looks like the squier modified cherry sunburst, but the three holes right below the neck cavity look like a mexican body, don't they?

They do resemble the Mexican guitar body holes, but my American Deluxe has them too. I doubt the body is American Vintage Reissue. The pickup routes are all wrong and my 57 Hotrod doesn't have those jig holes. It could be Highway 1, but I've never seen em in that colour before.

[EDIT]
I don't think it's American Standard or Deluxe because of the aftermarket vintage synchronized type trem.

My money is on it being a Squier body. Can you measure the bridge spacing from low to high E's.

no the trem is no name, surely not the one sold with this guitar. If you can check www.axeblaster.com, the pickup routings for the mexican bodies are a perfect match with mine, the only difference is a hole i have marked on my pic with a black arrow...

The hole marked with the arrow, is the extra hole made when the current pick guard was installed (60s screw hole pattern). This is the only hole that is different from the modern screw hole pattern pick guard that was originally there.

If it were 52 or 54 mm we could assume it to be 'offshore' (though all strats are offshore to me). 56mm just indicates that it has a vintage accurate trem on it.

I'd have to suspect Mexican, though I can't recall the colour. Perhaps Japanese? Did you take a look at the neck pocket? Could it be a Foto-Flame body? It's certainly very nice!

I once took the neck off, but could not make a word out of what was scrambled on the neck pocket. Surely it is not a photo finish, it is a veneer top, on the back i see 4 pieces of wood stuck together to form the body....
Indeed a very pretty guitar, that plays beautifully as well. I used to own a MIA stratocaster 1995 model, but got stolen. My current one, doesn't have the punch or the drive when trying to rock mt Rivera tube amp, but it certainly sounds better, i.e. smoother and sweeter. I love it, although I can't call it a real stratocaster, "partscaster" would be the name, I don't mind...

As for the bridge, I found an identical bridge assembly in an american site for guitars, for 39 dollars, but can't recall the name of the bussiness...

At a guess I'd say mexican some type of fsr. Aged cherry maple veneer top. Nice colour!

thanks everyone.

And if I may change my word about my MIA strat compared to my MEX... I recently replaced V1 tube in my Rivera amp, and from EH 12AX7 switched to JJ83S. WOW! I have higher gain and punch and had to turn the volume down from 4 to 3 so I don't go deaf. It is all relevant then, my MIA played through a solid state Fender performer 1000 then, and my Mexican played through a fulltube Rivera now...

Thanks again.

the extra screw hole indicate a different pickguard was once installed. American and Mexican have different screw holes above the middle pickup. Since the body does not have a two point trem, its most likely a MIM. Since it has a bar code sticker, it was made sometime in the 2000's. As far as wood type, by the looks of the grain, you have a maple body since there is a slight flame (really cool btw). Ash would of had more prominent grains....
