My 1996 HSS Stratocaster has 1 humbucker and 2 singles, all stock from Fender. My question is when the 5 way switch is in the #2 position(bridge humbucker and middle single coil), is the humbucker pick-up split? In other words, is only one coil of the humbucker used when added to the middle single coil? I can't tell by tapping the bobbins on the humbucker if only one, or both coils are active. Are the middle pick-ups on these guitar reverse wound/reverse polarity? Anybody have some info from Fender on this?

Don't know about the winding on the center pup, but most of the fat strat wiring diagrams show a split coil in the #2 position.
