Virtually no difference since they switched from bakelite so unless you're into carbon dating save yourself the money :)

I have looked at my 76, 75 and brand new strat covers and see no apparent difference. The marks seem to be the same such as the little round circles. There are numbers in some that go from 1. 2 and 3 but not always in the same set. Some sets have one 1 and two 2s or a couple 3s and a one.

Some vintage guys say it is the tool marks but I have looked at many covers for sale on ebay from new to old and they look the same. Any tooling marks that tell the story?

The tool mark can tell sometimes but on the 60s, I dont think on 70s and that's on the outside in the center of the cover on Jaguars.

If there's a definite difference I'd like to hear it. Maybe a more knowledgeable vintage guy can chime in.
