One is made in a Fender factory by Fender employees.

The other is not.

Doesn't sound that tough to me.

I have 1 American Strat and 1 Indo Squire Strat. I must admit there is not much choice when it comes to which is the superior guitar. The American, (1981 vintage) is far superior in every respect. I only bought the Indo because it was dirt cheap. But after a short while I found many areas of great concern. Suffice to say I practically rebuilt it. It is ok for a spare, though my nephew wants to learn to play, so he will most likely score a reasonable first axe. So, as some of the other players said, try both, and work out what is best for you.

Cheers.

Just my 2 cents worth...but it seemed like you mentioned that the USA model you're interested in would have to be shipped to you, thereby making it pretty much impossible to sit down and play it first...

If you are buying sight unseen and can't play it first I would default to the USA model.

Happy hunting! :)

So I've heard a lot about Japanese strats - they're supposed to be awesome n stuff, but then the USA ones are the USA ones.

In your humble opinion, what's the best one?

I have the option of spending £519 ($1035) on a brand new alder texspec Japanese, or £440 ($875) on a 2nd hand USA all stock (It's in great condition, but I'll have to ship it from America).

Any help received would be really really appreciated.

Thank you! 8)

Hey, Ed. Just in case you decide to go the Japanese route, a quick heads-up: do you know about this website?

http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/

It possibly looks a bit homemade as websites go, but it is actually a side venture of Chaz Chandler's operation, so it's kosher. I've never used them, but I've heard good things about them. Read the small print: seems a good way to go about it if you're object of desire needs importing into this country.

Good luck!
