Hey gang...I've had my Strat for about a year and half. Still learning. It's an American Standard. Got it new as a gift.

The third fret is a little rough where it molds into the neck. This is along the edge of the neck on the low E side. Like it wasn't smoothed in properly. I don't know if it was always there and I didn't notice...maybe it's getting worse. It's not awful but I do love my stuff to be in pristine shape.

How can this be repaired and should I even bother? It doesn't bother me too much at this point. If it was on the high E side I'd feel it more.

Thanks.

either the fret wasnt finished right or the fret is lifting. either one should be addressed by a qualified luthier.

Can I ask your best recommendation on finding a qualified luthier? Last time I called Fender they told me to talk to the guy at Guitar Center. I don't want to be snobby, but it doesn't sit right with me. Or maybe I'm wrong. That's easily possible.

you can try the yellow pages, a call and ask GC or another local music store. to bypass all the BS tell them you need a guitar refretted. that usually gets passed on by local stores and gets straight to the luthiers.

If you could post a couple of pictures of it, we could see exactly what the problem is and may be able to help you out more both problem and price wise.

Also, what city do you live in? Maybe others here live nearby and can recommend someone.

Sounds like the fret is lifting.
Has you Strat been exposed to any climate changes?
