I really cannot see the problem with this series .If you dont like it dont buy it, but dont knock it .It shows just how dumb you are not what a clever chap you are .I look on all guitars as a separate entity ,not what has passed before or 'Leo" didnt design it .Many see the pawn shop as an insult to Fender but I just see them as good guitars They are a bit pricey for me at present but who knows .Basically for me ,the fact that some old geezer played such and such guitar 50 years ago doesnt close my eyes to what is out there now .I speak as a very old geezer indeed. :)

So I'm curious joaquin.moreno I've heard some naysayers about these guitars, and as far as I know they haven't been released yet for another month. So my question to everyone is have you played it? Have you tried it out? I actually don't care even a little bit how any guitar looks, The bottom line is how do they sound. I love the sound of semi-hollow guitars. I think the les paul is a really gorgeous looking guitar and yet I haven't bought one yet cause I don't like short scale length guitars. I like the harmonics that you hear when you play on long necks. The 72' model is long neck and semi hollow thats two checks for me! But I can't say that they're absolutely great guitars because I haven't actually gotten my hands on one and tried them out. I think it's safe to say that we should at least play one before we make up our minds, we want to sound good when we play more than look good right?

Seems like Fender could have come up with a bit more creative name..... the guitars look interesting but the word "pawn shop" conjures up all kinds of bad images for me.... but I have picked up a few good deals as a pawn shop.

Im so tired of this thread. Im not saying that is either a good or bad guitar all i say is that is not going to be great, and is not aligned with the brand. I always look into new brands and new guitars, but this pawn shops are (at least to me) a marketing campaign.
And no one gets a benefit but fender. They are not upgrading anything here, they are not "listening" to their clients.
Im sorry if i offended someone or my comments sounded harsh.
Best regards.

Sorry dude, you don't have to respond anymore if you don't want to. I think it's great when any guitar company tries to step outside it's own box and try things differently. I dislike it when people think that something isn't fender enough. I also think that maybe they're doing this to help out japan in it's time of troubles. Fender Japan makes some awesome guitars and usually when you want one they're about the same if not a little more expensive than American standards. I think 800$ is a fair price for the semi-hollow. Guitar companies usually charge a little more for going a little further in hollowing out the bodies, and this body is still contoured! That seems fair to me. I do agree the name is a little dumb, and it's kinda pointless putting a tele neck on a strat body but whatever. Also check out the bound f-hole! You don't usually get that in semi-hollows in this price range. In the end I guess maybe I'm not a very fendery player, I love the thinline telecaster and am very much hoping that Fender Japan also starts selling their semi-hollow jaguar here in the states! Don't worry man you weren't offensive, I asked for opinions not just favorable opinions. We gotta let guitar companies spread their wings and fly, not box them in. Remember at the time fender was pretty radical and solid bodies were being dismissed as a fad.

Okey. I just hope that fender improves the materials that use for the "standard" series too.
