Is there a spreadsheet anywhere (or table) of each strat model with a listing of specs? I know that I can go and search out the specs myself and build my own, but if it's been done, I'd rather not re-invent the wheel.

So I'm trying to learn the differences between strats and because there are so many models and even options within a model. Music store sales people, although well intentioned, are often completely wrong in their answers (as I found last weekend when test driving a strat deluxe).

What I am looking for is a 7 1/4" radius, maple fingerboard sss guitar in sunburst either in a hard tail or with locking tuners and 22 frets. My real problem is going to be to find one with quiet pickups. The Deluxe that I tried had noiseless pickups and was great. On the opposite end of the spectrum is my Squier Strat Affinity HSS which has uber noisy pickups.

Thanks for any help.....if it doesn't exist, I'll figure it out for myself. jack

You'll eventually discover that unless you want to pay $$$$ for a Custom Shop Strat or be willing to toss some of your desired specs under the bus, the best way to get precisely what you want is to build it yourself.

There are members of this forum who can assist you with that endeavor......

I share your frustration on that, there ought to be a site that displays every model Strat sold w/ specs for every year made. I even checked wiki and no luck. Seems like Fender lost a lot of their records pre 1990 and it's a shame someone doesn't do a Strat-stat project before it all goes down the memory hole.

That said, there's Fretbase (http://www.fretbase.com/search?cx=00889 ... Search#905) which will show you specs for a lot of models that Fender's site might not list.

But like Retroverbial sez, your best bet is to assemble your own Strat. I've done several from eBay purchases and auctioned back the bits I didn't need.

Off the top of my head you might have a hard time finding a Fender 22 fret blond neck with a 7.25 radius unless you custom order from $$$Warmoth$$$. Fender makes a 70's strat with a 7.25 but only 21 frets. I'm guessing the 7.25 are only found on vintage type re-issues which are usually 21 frets. While on that subject be sure you know what neck back contour you want as there are several. The 70's has a U shaped back which is thick, the 50's has a perfect soft "V". Also know which width bridge you like as the vintage re-issues have wider bridges than contemporary strats.

Finding a Fender hardtail body on eBay isn't going to be easy either and you might investigate copper lining the inside of the body to quiet your pickups instead of restricting yourself to only noiseless models.

Just my 2¢, sorry to get long-winded . . . Good luck with your search!
