I'm almost ready to pull the trigger to upgrade the pups in my '99 MIM strat. I'm going with
Bridge: Chopper (DP 184)
Middle: Area '67 (DP419)
and for the neck, either a DP409 (Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2) OR the DP422 injector.

Looking for a classic rock sound (60s-70s, Gilmour in particular)....with option to play some newer (80s onward) rock and some funk once and a while. I don't play metal and I'm not a shredder.

Any opinions/thoughts on this combo?

I wouldn't use the DP409 in the neck. It's a great bridge pickup (It's what i'm using for the bridge), but I think it will be way to dark and probably muddy sounding in the neck.
I'm not familiar with the injector, but it may overwealm the Area 67 in the middle (looks like it has a lot higher output)

Interesting. My luthier said the same thing about it being potentially too dark which is why he suggested the Injector. That said, the tech people at DiMarzio have recommended the DP409. What would you suggest in the neck?
