I've got a Squier 87' Strat and it plays like a beaut. I'd go into a music shop and get disappointed cause when I play a different guitar, it feels just, "off" to me. The build is great, some nicks in the poly, it being 24-some years old, but not really noticeable.

I'll do a video demo tomorrow, and show some of the tones I can get out of my dearest.

Great do it!!

Thanks T2, How would describe the neck you had on yours?

The neck was pretty close to the MIM 60s Classic I just bought...very nice C shape...very comfortable. That would be about as close as you can get with the modern stuff neck shape wise.

Mine had the classic style bridge on it, no fine tuning whammy think nor the lock on the headstock...I am a NONE whammy user...could never get the hang of those, just use the fingers for vibrato.

So bigger and sturdier than modern C ?

Yes but just a bit, but not approaching Louisville slugger territory :!:

It was black with a single ply pickgaurd (that did not warp) ala my first "Blackie" :!:
...You got me really missing that guitar now...thanks

I have owned several of the MIJ Strats
-1988 "72 RI Paisley Strat
-1985 Contemporary Strat
-1987 Squier Strat
-1989 HM Strat(USA or MIJ????)
They are all very nice guitars, and I bought them all for very good prices used(except the '88 Paisley Strat I bought new). I paid less than $250 for each($125 for the Squier). So for a bang for the buck value, they rate very well.

I've got a lot of the MIJ E series Fenders, lots of MIA's from just before (Fullerton) and just after (Corona) plants and EVERY one of my MIJ's blow away all of my MIA Smith eras and Plus axes. Japan just puts out some smokin' axes, still do.
