im a bit confused and wonder if anyone can help, ive just put a fat deposit down on a brand new amrican standard, and i noticed its decal where it says "fender stratocaster" on the head stock is black, and on the new models, which this is ment to be, they are all silver in colour.

cant understand it! its olimpic white with maple neck.

can anyone help me understand why, im going to ring shop tomorrow and question the age of it.

Hi louis1,

Was it maybe an American Special instead of an American Standard, with big headstock? The Am Spcl has the black 70s style "Fender" logo. The Standard (MIM) has the black 70s style logo, and the American Standard has the silver spaghetti logo. Maybe you could post a pic of the headstock?

Does it have a white painted headstock? I was looking at one of the 2010 "Ivory" limited color American Standards on a dealer's site and I couldn't tell from the photo if the headstock decal was the normal one or if it was all black. Either way it was the Leo-style "spaghetti" logo, not the modern logo like an MIM, Highway 1 or American Special.

hi, it wasnt one of the limited same colour headstock ones. its just a plain american standard sss, just with the wrong decal, it does sa ymade in the usa on the back

i rang the shop today to express my concerns and to see if they could explain, and they couldnt. its a mystery. why would an american standard have that black mim logo, it also has a darker colour truss rod hole like a mim standard, all the american standards have a lighter brown coloured hole..

its almost as if theyve put the wrong neck on it. i might email fender! im curious!

anyway theyve swapped it for a stunning 3 colour sunburst american standard strat sss. with the right neck.

if anyone has any ideas about this mystery would love to hear
