My friends who work at the local Guitar center here in Hallandale Beach are trying to get me to sign up for the Kings Of Blues competition.....thinking about it....I am going to do it before I am 40 as a treat to myself but I don't know if I am ready. I will be 39 in Novemer so the window is closing. I know I will be ok but debating and nervous as hell....could be life changing....maybe not.......just thought I would run it by the forum mates.

Ah, this is where all the Stevie Ray "Vaughnabees" come out of the woodwork, right down to dressing like him and mimicking his 'moves', all with Strats of course - Halloween in May.

I could be wrong (my disclaimer) but from what I've heard, it's the big spenders and/or relatives of the management in the individual stores which win these things.

You might as well go for it. You get a free T-shirt and a card for five future 10% discounts.

Good luck!

will you be nervous, yes knees will shake, palms will sweat, increased heart rate and rapid breathing will make you play alittle sloppier, but its extremely fun, and youll feel good you did it.
this will be my third go round. im sure ill lose.

but try it.
i go up against seasoned players, intimidating as hell, either way you gain their respect.

the guy who won the yr before last had an allman brothers style.

chicago blues is in Gm blues scale, and im sure you can throw some major pentatonic.
slow down blues is Bflat minor i believe the progression is Bbmin7, Eb9, Bbmin7
turnaround i think is G#9,G9 Bbmin7
aminor affair, think bb king thrill is gone in Aminor,Dmin7,Fmaj13,e 7th with notes in it
(e,Ab,D,E)

yeah, i love that backing track, it has a slight different feel and tempo, that of thrill is gone, in Am
check out what i wrote on the progression, just go slow, and more important than speed, is feeling.
