Does anybody know the correct type/size of the bridge block in the new Blacktop Strats?

I like this model so much that I bought two of them. The black version has a very big block (more than 1/2-inch thick, measured across the access holes for the strings. The Sonic Blue version, however, has a very thin block, barely 1/4-inch thick, just wide enough for the string holes.

Both guitars were purchased NEW.

So why the difference? Just curious.

Thanks, Michael

I have a Sonic Blue Blacktop Strat and it has the tiny bridge block.

Maybe the bigger block was introduced later and the first ones had the tiny block? Then again on some other models features differ slightly based on color :?

Either way I love the guitar, and daresay I dont notice a tone difference with the cheap, small block. Maybe the hot hummies make up for it :)

I have a sonic blue one. It's got the thin block. I intend to replace the entire bridge with a fender bridge with a steel GFS block. I will keep the original bridge with the original thin block if I ever want to return it to original configuration.

I cann ot account for the different size blocks on same model and year guitars. I think they may just be using the parts they have around.

In any account its a great instrument.
