I once pressed ME to explain why they got out of the LS's, suspecting that there was some 'politics' between Fender and Actodyne Industries. Mike said that the sent a set of Vintage Noiseless pickups to EC and he liked them, hence the change. To my ear, the Lace's have a gutsier sound, even though they are supposedly voiced for vintage Strat tones. Is why I'm pretty much satisfied with my '89. I had a black '93 which I had swapped out for another guitar and always regretted that. When the '89 came my way, I grabbed it.
