can you change the pickups of american deluxe with S1 technology with other pickups like texas special and still use the S1 function?

Do you need any help on choosing what kind of pickups your looking for ?

i don't have any idea yet, im also in a hunt for a good strat. just wondering if the pickups of american deluxe can be changed. do you think the stock pickups of american deluxe is versatile enough for blues, rock and hard rock stuff? how about metal?

Metal, no. All the other stuff, yes.

If you must do metal, go for a humbucker equiped strat.

will you be able to switch the american deluxe hss bridge pickup from humbucker to single coil? the hss model is just like the standard american deluxe with more versatility right?

Yes you can swap out pickups and use the S1 switch. I have done this successfully.
Due to the wiring though you may get some weird results using a reverse pol/wound pickup for the middle. I used texas for neck and bridge and 69 for middle. The 69 is not reverse pol etc. I did post that with the S1 down and all pickups on you get a great twang. I think the HSS wiring is slightly different than the SSS (which I used) so you may have to nut out what is going on there with the wiring and the switch else again you may get some crazy and unwanted out of phase sounds.

i want to do the same except, i want to leave the n'3 in neck and middle and put a dimarzio tone zone s , which is a mini humbucker , do you think their would be any problems ?
