Just been checking out the Road Worn Player Series HSS Strats and this has confirmed what I need to do with my Lite Ash Strat.

I noticed the Road Worn has a couple of Texas Specials in the middle and neck, anyone know how they compare to the Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro - APS-1's I have in my Strat. I'm also going to fit the Pearly Gates in the bridge so that's a done deal, I just want to make sure I'm not to far of the mark with the other two Pup's.

Last question, anyone know the pot values on the Road Worn. Not sure If I need to keep the 250K Vol and tone pots or do I need to mix it up a bit to get the best out of the PG.

The TSs have more muscle and grit whereas the APs have a smoother, sweeter tonality.

As to the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, this has always been a point of confusion where Strat players are involved. See, the OEM Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus pickup Fender uses is in reality, closest to a 'regular' Seymour Duncan 59. So, premising one does not go out and buy an outright Fender/Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus and decides to buy from the 'regular' Seymour Duncan line for their Strat, the question at hand is, does one want a Seymour Duncan 59 or a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates (which has a lot more sizzle and treble) than the former? Either way, the 'regular' Seymour Duncan pickup must also be asked for in "Trembucker" spacing.

IIRC, they use a 500K volume pot with two 250K tone pots. Premising I'm accurate, your best bet would be staying with the 500K volume pot for the sake of the full sized humbucker and soldering a 470K resistor from each single coil's terminal at the pickup selector switch to ground. This makes the single coils "see" a 250K pot as their volume pot when selected. These resistors are 2 for 99 cents at any Radio Shack.

Thanks for your detailed response Martian, very helpful. I'm not being very decisive about this as I don't have a limitless pot of cash to dig into so I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I commit. Having said that, even when you do get input from everyone, what they hear may be totally different to someone else so in the end I'll just have to go for it and see how it turns out.

Thanks again.
