Look, it's clear that your wife desperately wants those new shoes - hell, maybe 2 pairs..

But you know that she's not going to indulge herself without a damned good excuse. So surely you can see that you are OBLIGED to buy a new Fender at the earliest possible opportunity. By failing to do so, you are denying that poor woman what should be hers by right. What sort of a husband are you! Get yourself down to the local toystore first thing in the morning. Do the decent thing..

And don't forget, if you procrastinate, the price will inevitably go up. So, if you smartly buy now, the money you saved by taking immediate action pretty much guarantees you don't have to tap into your wife's shoe money down the road. I call this a, "Win-win" situation!

A nice strategy if you do repairs/mods is to admit that a "friend" conned you into doing some repair work for him. then down the road if the missus notices it's still around say your friend stiffed you and you're keeping the guitar. heck if you're extra sneaky after you've had it a few days, tell her you're having trouble with said friend paying, and ask if she thinks you should tell him you're gonna keep it. Women love revenge, as long as they're not the target, and they love it doubly so if you involve them.(Just make up a name/person unless you want a confrontation with an innocent bystander, and it will happen if you use a real person's name.)

Or, you can say you picked it up at a pawn shop for super cheap. Or: "This is a cheap model, it not an expensive one like my others are" She won't know the difference, they all look the same to her!!!

[quote="joaokorb"] Let me answer you ahead. Buy the wife some nice pair of shoes, and you will be fine.quote]

LOL!! My friend did that when he spent hundreds on a new Playstation3, he went down to the animal shelter, picked out the cutest kitten and payed for the vaccines. Winner.

Save that however, for your first Customshop purchase

Ironically, I have an easier method which is true many a time in my case: The person couldn't pay me with money so he gave me parts instead. Or in this thread's context, it could always be changed to, "The person couldn't pay me with money so he gave me this guitar instead." Here, you can not only bring it in immediately but you don't have to hide it either. Moreover, I doubt VERY strongly most wives are going to call up said person and ask for verification. YMMV.

No but better halves DO tend to bring things up, the next time you end up with the decoy at a social event. experience was the teacher here.
