Fender released this beautiful Burly Maple Strat in 2010. It has an ash body with a burly maple top, Vintage Noiseless pickups, a tortoise shell pickguard and a vintage-style tremolo bridge.

All the hardware is gold plated.

The Guitar Museum's website claims it's an American Deluxe. True or false?

I think it's another Factory Special Run from the Custom Shop.

Lovely,I'd love to see one in burl walnut-now that would be really impressive.

I totally agree !!! :)

This guitar looks more like a partscaster than a genuine Fender USA Deluxe. The American Deluxes use different and better hardware. Also, you'll notice the neck has 2 standard butterfly string trees instead of the single EzyGlider and Gotoh tuners.

BTW the burl maple top ash body and the are probably made by Warmoth.

I love burl wood. I don't care who it's made by, I think that top looks like stars forming in a cloud nebula! Yummy!

On the other hand, how babyish and needy to put a fake decal on it if it's not a Fender. Whatever it is, it sure as heck isn't an Am Dlx.

Cheers - C

EDIT: here's the back of the guitar at guitar-museum.com. That ain't no Am Deluxe. In fact, that body ain't no Fender at all (middle screws on the backplate, amongst other things). Still nice, though:

PPS: surely that isn't ash on the back? Looks more like sapele to me.

Meanwhile, looking at the solid walnut plug (no hole for trussrod access) on the headstock I suspect what we have here is a Fender American Vintage neck on an aftermarket body from an unknown maker.

I wonder who wrote American Deluxe on the guitar-museum.com website? Someone who was wrong, anyhow.

Cheers - C

PPPS: am I seeing some yellow Eulenburg pocket scores sitting horizontally on the shelf behind?

Or are those National Geographic cover spines?

...Time to get out more.

Cheers - C
