Hello,I am in the middle of my first custom american strat build.I recently received my custom ordered single coil p90's from vintage vibe guitars.I am getting ready to load my pickguard(my first one fingers crossed). My question is about the pickup height, they seem to stick out of the pickguard to much,is that what the little plastic spacers are for,or should i use springs?i do not have a neck yet will i have to wait to string it up to adjust pickup height?the pickups have pole screws.also can i twist all three pickup neg wires together in one joint?or do they have to be soldered seperate? Hi badvibes,

Yes thats what the little spacers are for, they can be rubber, plastic etc. They allow the pups to be lowered up/down and keep a bit of "squashage" on the screws hehe.

The neg wires are often soldered together on the top of the volume pot.

Good luck with the build 8)

If by "little plastic spacers" you mean short lengths of surgical tubing, yes, those go between the underside of the pickguard and the ear of the pickup to adjust the pickup height.

Yes. You measure pickup height from the top of the high E and low E poll pieces to the bottom of their respective strings. Poll screws can be used to balance each individual string output.

Either way is fine as long as they are soldered to one common ground point (back of volume pot is typical).
