But you believe a dealer that claims they are? Have you seen any sort of official announcement from Fender that they are being phased out? It is a well know fact that Fender builds guitars in batches. The fact that they are back ordered could simply mean that the next batch of Hwy 1s is not completed and shipped.

People freaked last week because the Bassman LTD was inadvertantly left off the Fender website during an update and thought it was being discontinued which it is not. Now you say that something that IS on the Fender site might be be discontinued because someone else, not Fender, says so? Makes no sense to me.

as far as this forum goes, Brad is our direct line to Fender. nobody is freaking out. if you noticed, this post was directed to Brad asking the question. still waiting on him to respond. several on the forum say they have heard it. ive heard it in 2 of my stores.
so i figure that its best to ask Brad directly. just because they are on your link above doesnt mean there are no plans to phase them out. this COULD be their last run.
thats why this question is being asked. he hasnt answered yet so there could very well be something to it, or maybe hes just busy.

there have been 4 come to stores in my area since this time last yr. ive bought 2 of them. the stores are clueless as to whats going on. how long do you think it takes to complete a batch? they cant even order them, so they arent taking orders. there were folks on here that had waited on their orders 8 months at last count last yr and still didnt have there ordered HW1'S. who knows whats going on.

It's what people want - supply and demand. That doesn't mean that it might not be phased out at some point. But if the sales are doing well on the HYWs and better than the AMSpecials (a local dealer claims that his sales are, btw) why stop production.

according to Brad the sale on the original 51 squier were fantastic, but they stopped making them too mike.
who knows why they do what they do bro.
