Hi, blues...thank you for the welcome...and I'll definitely post pics!! Whereabouts in Texas are you...north Texas? Loved reading about how you and the guitar met...wish you had been able to have that guitar when you were younger...but now you can make up for lost time!! I'd love to hear you playing guitar...do you have anything up on YouTube?

Yeah Guitars are where it's at dude :) With the way my currency conversion goes vs the JPY, and the market here in Nz I actually can get CS stuff for half the price I could get here.. but pedals, er... for one the minimum order is 50,000JPY so you'd need them in bulk  I would rather buy them new if I can, and then the voltages are different for ac plugs compared to japan unless I am running 9v supply only. I want a warranty for stuff like that too.

If your looking at E-bay, I suggest you check out http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/ right hand side, they have the used stuff there. They have a MASSIVE inventory :D

Jabbasweetie--that pink SSS is GORGEOUS! No guy would play it, of course, but, like my friend says, you don't play the color, meaning it's still a Strat. If my wife or one of nieces wanted to play I might get her that--if you can find one. I'm sure they are rare.

Meanwhile I got my Sienna-burst HSS for incredibly little. It was used and from one of the chains, but I haven't been able to find a single sign of wear on it--only the S/N shows it's a 2008 MIM. I'm delighted with it. I spent a few more bucks on a copy of The Fender Stratocaster Handbook and with very little work got it set up the way I like it. Meaning: you don't have to mortgage the kids' college fund to get a good guitar.

JS,

I have aHWY 1 which started out as a SSS. I cannot stand the Atomic humbuckers on the AS or HWY 1. I guess it really depends on what type of music you play. I have a Dimarzio SD in the bridge now. Great for hard rock and metal.

BTW I heard from my tech that the HWY 1 series is being discontinued so if you really want one, now is the time. If money is an issue, the Blacktop or Classic Vibe (Squier) are both excellent guitars to check out.

Thanks so much for the info!! I should get the HW1 first then (before the AmSt)...I'd hate to wait on getting it, then it's discontinued, and I never get to have one. Think I'm gonna get it SSS...is the HW1 SSS routed just SSS or is it routed to accomodate HSS?

My 2007 came routed HSS. I bought it as SSS and converted it to HSS. This is a very nice guitar to play and loved it from the get go. I knew that I was going to throw a new Humbucker in one, I just didn't like the others I played as much as the one I picked.

That´s preety nice, but too old for my taste. Vintages are meant to be for collectors, not players, IMHO.

to me it depends on the situation though.

My advise is never to buy a guitar that you might keep looking at it more than you´ll play it. If I had a Paisley that old, I would stick it to the wall and watch it all day long. 8)

Hey, instruments need to be played or they disintegrate. Even the finest Amati and Stradivarius viols, worth millions, need to be played to keep them alive and supple.

Being a big Les Paul fan and owning a HWY1 SSS Strat and a AM SP SSH, I would remind you that these two have Jumbo frets bigger than your average Strat. Tje AmSP pickups are stonger by the way.
