Hello All,
trackerdan, what would they be guilty of?

Good question. I'm not sure where guilt comes into play.

I'm thinking there was a reason for the resin filled blocks, maybe to reduce weight? but now that tone is paramount again maybe fender is using the all-metal gimmick. Although it may be a gimmick, fender is implying that the all-metal is superior to the resin-filled. All I know is the new standards feel great, I'm very impressed with them. Does anyone know what the deal is with the "buffed" fingerboard, on rosewood more precisely?-does it affect that part of the rosewood that makes me want to dig in (more than maple does)?

I've taken the blocks out of my strats to hone the top of the block to make a perfect fit with the trem assy. These block were all solid alloy... I would be amazed if any are resin filled.

I think this info stems from the latest GC flyer describing the 08' American series strat, wherein perhaps someone was misquoted.

I don't know about the rosewood but I can tell you about the maple first hand. All my am strats have maple necks and on all but one, the finish on the fingerboard is best described as dappled and rather flat (no shine)... not smooth and shiny like the new '08s.

Hello All,

Here is my latest theory.
I see the tremolo block had a bit of a rough surface
like a casting and I now believe that the resin{paint}
was used to fill the surface and make it smooth and
more attractive. Just like you might fill the grain of
a piece of wood to make it nicer appearing. :wink:
Any takers.

Strataholic,
Can you please comment on the feel of the dappled v. buffed. I would love to hear your take on the matter. Thanks
