I have a 1994 american standard strat (well, it's a strat plus but i'm not sure if that matters for this issue)

keep in mind i'm playing the guitar unplugged.

when i hit any g-note on the guitar i hear a slight rattling or buzzing sound. mainly is the open g string, 5th fret on the d string, 10th fret on the a string and 3rd fret on the low e string. it's hard to hear where the sound is coming from.

so far i've tried tightening the truss rod which seems to be firmly tightened. also i made sure the tilt adjust set-screw isn't loose.

any ideas?

Nope, my guess is the Micro Tilt screw came loose! On the neck plate, the small hole.....find the allen wrench that fits the screw and tighten it just enough to be snug (DO NOT TORQUE IT). I had this screw come losse on a 1996 Strat and it drove me NUTS until I discovered what it was! ;)

Apparently, the nut needs a a 'manicure' and the frets need a G & P, culminating in the guitar needing a complete setup.

Interesting that it is just the G note on different strings. Some strange resonance somewhere.

Oops! I missed that he already tightened the micro-tilt screw, LOL. Now check and see if your saddles are rattling against each other, and check the tremolo cavity on the rear of the guitar, sometimes those springs can cause a wierd springy-buzzy resonance type sound if they are rattling against the body or are too loose and slack!
