I have a Strat that I bought last year. I really like the feel of the SRV Strat's neck (I cannot remember what shape it is) anyway, can the "public" purchase a "true" Fender neck ready to install?

That would be a question for Fender.

you should check out http://fender.com/support/faqs.php#q7 -- think fender is pretty explicit, but i could be wrong; hope this helps.

I don't think they do. What their probably gonna tell you is to buy it from somebody like Warmoth, who's necks are authorized by Fender. That's what I found out when I had a problem with my neck. Although I wasn't told this by Fender.

Back when my guitar was fairly new, the headstock cracked. It was my fault though, when putting on tuners, I didn't pre-drill the screw holes, so it cracked. I found out that I couldn't replace the neck with an 100% Fender neck. I didn't want one that didn't have Fenders name on it, I wanted the real deal, not some copy, so I ended up fixing it myself. It turned out really good, that was about 6 years ago and I haven't had any problems since.

Big F makes it a pain in the butt, and unless the guitar is pretty recent, you still have a "bastard guitar" to collectors.. If the guitar is hugely valuable, the vintage dealers use repair facilities that can, and do, build an entirely new neck or body no one can tell from original. Otherwise you might as well buy a neck off ebay that is simply a part-out (people buy Fenders used and part them out, or even new-this happens when music stores go out of business a lot) or as others have said, an aftermarket rpl neck. You are not supposed to put a Fender decal on there, of course. I can't believe anyone would really do that.....

Ebay store Stratosphere is the best bet. Fender dont do replacement necks for a reason, and thats to protect the integrity of it's product. there are pros and cons, but thats just the way the cookie crumbles. I dont entirely agree with it, but im not going to debate about it on a forum- I have enough wisdom to know what will happen.

Stratosphere have an awesome range of stuff, check it out :) you may find something that may take your fancy 8)

Good luck

Agreed, they do have "real" Fender necks readily available.

Just like many others have posted, go to stratophere on Ebay. Be prepared to drool, seriously. Fender lovin' heaven lol. You could build your dream strat all day long, part by part.

I guess I'm a little behind the times as this is the first time I've seen that ebay store. What an incredible selection! You could go crazy with all the options he has.

Thanks,
