You must have a hard time buying automobiles.

You'd be surprised how many debadged BMWs there are on the road. While I don't go that far, at least I remove the ///M markers.

I guess my philosophy is that if the appearance tells you what it is anyhow, the logos can stay. Like a headstock logo on a guitar, or the trunk emblem on a car. But if it doesn't, and tells people something they wouldn't know if it wasn't for the logo, it becomes tacky. The more prominent, the tackier.
A discreet logo you have to look for is one thing, but high contrast in-your-face logos are just bourgeoisie exploitation of the proletariat for free advertising. :p

I wish it were easier to find good straps without a logo. I'd pay extra not to have to advertise for a particular brand.

Make your own. It's really not that hard.

I've seen the Gibson & PRS leather straps. Very nice and just what I was looking for. However, I couldn't get past the large Gibson logo attached to my Fender Strat. Then I came across an equally nice leather Levy strap. It had a prominent "L" logo stamped into the leather. In this case, no problem. Both of my initials are "L". Now I have a nice wide, padded, monogrammed leather strap that was also cheaper. Perfect match for my 3 color SB RW Strat.

That's certainly something I think has stopped many sales. A couple of the Gibson/PRS straps are really nice looking, but the big prominent logo...

There are some other pretty choices, like the below one, but $283 for a guitar strap is kind of "ouch". It makes me wish I remember the cordwainer class I took back in high school.

I can certainly understand not wanting a Gibson strap on your Fender guitar or vice versa. I have Taylor straps on my Taylors and Fender straps on my strats and I am looking at a Martin strap for my Martin D-19. I also have a 3'' wide padded leather Levi strap with no logo, No "L" or anything else. Just plain black, that I use for everything else.

Hahaha I used to use a Fender strap on my LP DC JR. Someone I used to be friends with went mad at me about it at a gig. I couldn't believe it. I mean, I'm OCD about some things but they're my things. Not other peoples.

I now use Dimarzio cliplocks on all my gigging guitars. Easier to keep the wireless on one strap when changing guitar.

One of my favorite leather straps is black and has guitar strings wound through it. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I think D Addario makes them. Got it as an Xmas gift so not sure one price

I'm using those cliplocks too. I'm guessing soon there will be copycat versions of the DiMarzios.

Mike the strap that got me into them was a copycat job. Made by Fort Bryan straps. I used it for years. With loads of people saying "I wouldn't trust it".
I think Dimarzio cottoned on to what people were doing and maybe put a stop to it. I can't find anything but Dimarzio ones.

I use a Richter Springbreak I for basically everything. It's not excessively wide where it's annoying and it's very well made as well and looks good with pretty much any guitar. I bought it to shoulder the weight of the Les Paul Custom, but it works just as well with other guitars too. If I didn't have a heavy guitar like the Les Paul, I might not have spent that much either, but you get what you pay for.
