Please forgive my ignorance, but what means "scooped" mid range? More mid or less mid? English is not my first language and when I hear scooped I can only relate to cat litter. ;-P

Big thanks!

Scooping the Mids means to take out the mids or set them to less than 2. If you are trying to get close to Mayer's tone I could help you somewhat but I need to know what kind of gear you are running.

Big thanks! Thats why they sound so warm! It definitely makes sense.

For my gear... well, I got a Mayer Strat, a Blues Junior and a BD-2. But I'm not looking in any way to sound like Mayer. He is probably a good guitarist, but I'm not really a fan of his stuff. I just felt in love with that guitar when I first played it. Believe it or not, when I was shopping for my first electric guitar last year, I was minded to buy a Gibson ES-335, I've always been a big fan of John Lee Hooker. Moreover, I would have never thought to buy a Start. They were too "common" guitars for me. And sunburst,I always hated this kind of thing. But the guy at the shop insisted, he wanted me to at least try this guitar one time before leaving. I was hard to convince, but at the very moment I played my first chord, magic (or something similar) happened. I've never been able to pull my hands of it, this guitar is now a part of me (wierd thing).

I still not like sunburst, I would not buy another strat, but I love this guitar more every time I play her.

See ya

Jim
