I've mixed feelings about it. I much prefer EMG's method of wires clipping to the back of the pickup. But this looks to have it's uses and I'm generaly in favour of it.

I could have soldered that pickup in quicker than 1:55.

I might have made 1:30, but it wouldn't've been pretty...lol.

I predict by year's end, there'll be several variations, maybe even a Fender one? :?:

I like with taylor's solid body classics you can switch out the pickguards with a twist of the screwdriver...

How hard are these to emulate anyway?

Now if they could only make a good sounding pickup. I really don't see any need for something like it at all. If you have the right pickup in it when you bought it (assuming you actually plugged it in and listened to it first), why would you even change a pickup?

Scott it's down to finding that right sounding pickup. And as much as I don't favour Seymour D's pickups. 30 years in business and two of the most popular humbuckers in the world (atleast 2) can't be wrong.
I've found myself changing pickups (and carving new scratchplates) to suit setlists before now. Bands evolve, playing evolves and so do tastes.
If the world were any different we'd all be playing some evolution of that old 48 singlecoil or burstbucker. Instead we live in a world of choice. It's not a bad thing. Thanks largely to Seymour Duncan and Larry Dimarzio.

Whether this is a huge seller or not, I don't know. Will it lead to something that is, I'm pretty sure it will.

I think so too mate. I know some 'players' who are afraid of a soldering iron! :?

Actually, THAT would be the reason to change - to see what else is out there. I could always sell the new pickup if I didn't like it; if I liked it I could swap between the two whenever I wanted. I have a "project" guitar that this could be perfect for.

The Kinman K9 solderless wiring harness is even easier that that plus it comes with a few extra options for more pickup combinations.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

BMW-KTM, are you using it in any guitars now?
