Nice looking fiddle you have there, there are lots of pro musicians who use Squiers so don't feel bad that you can't afford a Fender! I've never owned a Squier but my guess is that like MIM (Made In Mexico) Strats, you may want to upgrade to better pickups at some point for better sound. Then again it may serve your needs just fine and you can just play and enjoy. The end result is making music, that's all it is.

Hi kostas_ger, welcome to the Forum.

Seriously, that's an excellent instrument you have there, and bangs per buck probably the best value on the planet. In time there are possibly a few things you could spend some money on, pickups being an obvious one. But wait till you have enough experience to decide whether there is anything at all wrong with the parts you already have, and if so, what you are trying to achieve by swapping things out. For now, it's a great guitar so concern yourself with playing it, not modding it.

Meantime, if you do want to point a bit of cash at it there very best thing you could do is find a good, well recommended guitar tech/luthier and have that guitar properly set up, as regards action, pickup height and such.

Bringing what you have there to it's optimum performance is effort so much better spent than buying new parts, at this stage of the game.

Enjoy! - C

Hi kostas_ger,

Very beautiful Strat. I had a similar Squire with a flamed maple top and it played very nicely. Get the fret edges filed and smoothed, and a fret level and dress so you can get the action lower, and that will be an even better player (that is all that I ever did to mine). You should be proud of a fine axe like that. Nice! :)

That is a great guitar. The only real upgrade that comes to mind would be swapping out the trem block for something made of steel. This will give better sustain.

I swapped mine for the GFS steel block and the guitar tone seems more chimey or bell like if you will. The GFS http://www.guitarfetish.com/Solid-Steel-Upgrade-tremolo-Blocks_c_221.html block is about $22.00. Your other option would be the callaham http://www.callahamguitars.com/partsstr.htm block which will run about $63.00. It's a pretty easy upgrade and well worth the twenty dead presidents I dropped to do it.

Well nothing is urgent if it makes good music. But bring you guitar in a store and plug it in the many amps. You should be able to notice hell of differences until you find one amp with a tone so good that you cant live without. :)

Welcome. That's a beautiful piece of playable art you have.
I have two MIM Strats and I love them both, I'm new at all of this so I'm happy with what I have fir right now based on my ability but I know that when the time is right and the $$$ are there I can upgrade and I like that.
Enjoy what you have and have fun doing it.

Welcome to the forum!
The axes that Squier has been pumping out these past years or so have been great stuff, and the beauty of it is that strats are so easy to customize and you're only a soldering iron and screwdriver away from finding that sound in your head (that is, if you haven't already found it)

they are tone-searching beasts
