Hi, I picked up a Strat style body and decided to build a Frankenstein Strat with it. I had a good neck and various pickups around the house but no scratchplate to mount them on. I got hold of a generic replacement plate but it was too small !! I don't mean that the screwholes didn't match I mean it was actually too small. I measured the guitar body against my 1974 Stratocaster and found that it is approx 5mm larger all round. The body depth is the same (45mm) but the length and width are more than my Fender. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be? Where might I get a scratchplate for it? Any suggestions would be gratefully received as this thing is baffling me. Thanks

Perhaps it's a "not-so-licensed" aftermarket body?

probably a body from a strat clone? a peavey or yamaha maybe? samick etc..

if you cant identify it you may want to make a template and have someone make you one.

Thanks, yeah I did think of making a template and possibly cutting a scratchplate myself, but maybe getting it done proffesionally might be better. As I said the body is a "Strat type" but I have no idea what guitar it came from. It's a good solid body and of good weight. (I like heavier bodied guitars, they just "feel" more right to me.) I will keep trying and post when or if I have any success.
