I broke the truss rod on my Jimmie Vaughan Strat. Can I send in the old neck and purchase a new one? I'm seeing repair costs of $600 or the Truss Rod Saver is about $250 so I'm wondering if a new factory neck is the way to go.

Hi nondj, welcome to the Forum.

Contrary to what some people will tell you (including here), yes you can get a like-for-like replacement for a broken neck.

There used to be a FAQ section on this site that told you how but since the website upgrade it doesn't seem to be available anymore. So in short, you have to take your guitar to an authorized Fender dealer to be verified, and they will then take you through the process for getting a new neck. There are some bits and pieces you need for that: you should email Customer Services and ask them the exact procedure, to save you some time.

consumerrelations@fender.com

They will make you jump through a few hoops and it will cost. Be prepared.

Good luck - C

It kinda defeats the purpose of a modular design if it costs a lot to get a replacement neck I've always thought.

If it's out of warranty, I'd go with a new neck. "If" being the main question.

Maybe it´s an idea buying a used Jimmie Vaughan Strat and sell the parts you don´t need (all except the neck).

Cheers,
Robin
