Just received my new mim strat! The quality's so much better than my old Mexican strat. If anyone's considering one, I strongly recommend it!

Congrats, you've made a fine choice!

I've owned many a Strat throughout the years, starting in 1968 and I honestly don't think the current MIM ones are inferior to the US stuff by any means. Rather, it's more a question of options that separate them, not inherent quality. Frankly, I believe that the MIMs are perceived as inferior because they read, "Made in Mexico", cost less and are a more basic or traditional version to a large extent, in comparison to what can be bought as an, "off the rack" Strat today. And of course, there is, "snob appeal" to a certain extent.

After all these years, I now use a MIM as my #1 Strat. All I've changed were the pickups. Is this a 'flag'? No. The originals sounded fine but I liked something else better. Further, I'd venture to say that at least 50% of Strat players replace their pickups, regardless of the specific model they've chosen.

Enjoy!!
