Hi, I built this by hand, it's perfect 1/2 scale. A friend keeps telling me that I should make more... what do you think?

Very nice mate. How long did it take you?
There's a bit of competition with the cheapo ones.
Yours looks really accurate. If it's worth your while in time spent, go for it.

Thanks!! It took about 30 hours. It's as accurate as I could get it.

Neat! 8)

Do the metal parts work or are they just lookalikes? No strings?

Add up how much the parts and materials cost. Add any additional marketing costs, such as packing and postage. Then work out how much you'd like to be paid per hour and add that on top. There's your final price.

I suspect that's the bit where you discover it's not how you'd like to earn a living. Nothing wrong with that: occasional sales to those willing to pay a realistic price are fine.

Nice job, wish I could do that kind of thing. Regarding pricing, as a guide, you'll need to figure out what it costs you in terms of materials, consumables, postage and packing etc.... Then figure out how much you want to charge for your labour.

Is it really half size? Is it my eyesight or do you have massive hands? :)

That sounds familiar...

The metal parts are actually fabricated from plastic and aren't functional :(
as for the strings, I tried using strings but it looked bad due to scale and tension issues.
Thanks for the advice on $, it's more a hobby/compulsion to build things than a money making plan so the latter is more realistic.

you could use tinted fishing line just for the effect of strings.
this way you can pick the sizes you like that work. or you could use violin
strings.
