Hello everyone! This is my first post, so I hope I'm not being disrespectful.

I would like to know what would be the best single-coil setting for an Ash stratocaster, I was thinking something like Custom 69'/Custom 54'/Texas Special or maybe Custom 54'/ Custom 54/ Custom 69'.... But I'm not sure what would be the nicest and most versatile set. I was hoping some of you tone experts could help me out!

Thanks!

Gus

You will never find the Tone you are looking for on a computer screen, or in a "poll" Buy a set of each, and try them all out. You may find a new tone you like better. 8)

gus welcome to the forums.

man you left so much out that we need to know.
what style of music will it be used for. what amp?
effects? the list goes on. the best thing to do is go play a few different guitars
at the store and see what better suits your own ear. me personally, i like CS 69ers
in middle and neck right now. the bridge pup is always different and changing.
right now i have a duncan JB jr in, but will soon put a 59er in for a spin.
its just to hard to say whats best. i dont think there is a "best" at all.

Welcome.

Duncan SSL-2/Duncan SSL-6/Duncan SSL-3. They cover everything quite nicely all the way from bells to balls.

Oh, I'm sorry about forgetting my setup:

Ash Stratocaster/Rosewood Fretboard;

Digitech Hardwire CM-2/ Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q/ MXR Analog Delay/ EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress. Running Thru a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus;

The amp is a JCM800 like tube custom made amplifier.

I'd like to play anything from clean tones to classic rock overdriven tones.

About buying a set of each, I was kinda hoping I didn't need to. Thats why I came to ask if anyone has an opinion which would give me a versatile set (thanks Martian, will look into).

Thanks again everyone!

Gus

Before you replace pick-ups, look into upgrading tone pots, volume pots, changing capacitors, etc... You might want to experiment with that first.
You may find a surprise.

Its relative. If he has superior pots in there already, the only surprise he'll get after changing them is a big nothing. As to the cap, unless he's going direct through an all tube amp, the same.
