Hi

I'm experiencing a lot of buzz noise on a nearly new 2010 standard usa strat, even on relatively low amp gain

The same noise happens when: bridge, middle or neck pick ups are selected. The noise completely STOPS when the "in between" positions are selected. Its defineatly the guitar causing the noise, i've eliminated everything else

Any ideas? Its under warranty but shop is 100 miles away!!!

Google for "60 cycle hum"...

Welcome to the world of single coils....

P.S. You might try exchange that fluorescent lamp on your practice room with a conventional one...

Its called 60 cycle hum and comes standard with single coil pickups. It goes away in positions 2 & 4 because the middle pickup is reverse wound/reverse polarity from the neck and bridge pickups and when those pickups are combined the hum is canceled. About all you can do is try different positions of the guitar relative to the amp, or different electrical outlets. Otherwise, you would need to change to a set of one of the many noiseless Strat pickups on the market. That's life in the Strat lane. :D

Does it reduce the further you are from the amp?
Are there other electrical items close by?
Have you tried it in another room with a different ring main?
Does it reduce when you are touching the strings?
Have you tried a good quality lead?

That hum has been part of the Strat experience since the 1950's. Some people love it, some people learn to deal with it, some people hate it. There are much more expensive Strats with single coils that share the same problem.
