Hi,

In the mid/late 80's I bought a new Fender Stratocaster, not knowing much about Strats at the time I parted with my cash and went home a proud Strat owner. Over the years this has mellowed into a really nice guitar but recently I was trying to find out a little about my particular model and have drawn a blank, the serial number is the letter E followed by 7 digits, according to many sites I've visited it should be only 6 digits; I've some details below and would appreciate it if anyone could perhaps shed some light on what it is I own.

Serial number: E1048XXX (under Fender logo on headstock)

Headstock has Silver Fender logo with black outline and says Fender Stratocaster.

Under Stratocaster is says "Made in Korea" this has confused me as I though only Squires were made in Korea and the word Squire is not on the guitar anywhere.

Each saddle is stamped "Fender" each side of where the string goes through.

21 Frets

High gloss mapple neck with truss adjuster on headstock, there is also a dark, what appears to be rosewood inlaid strip running up the back of the neck.

G Gotch tunning pegs

Single ply finger board

5 pos pickup switch

Standard 3 SC pickups

The body is sold however I've no idea what wood.

2 x String guids on headstock which are plastic with 2 little metal rollers on each.

So if anybody can give me an information about a solid bodied Korean Fender Stratocaster with a 7 digit serial number I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Kev

i don't think that squire existed back then, so they built the low-end models in korea

if you could post a pic, i could probably give better info :)
