Hey! First post in the forums.

I have to say, I have a Jackson Warrior (yeah, one of those with lots of spikes), an Ibanez SZ320 and a Schecter Jeff Loomis (7 string. A fine guitar).

I really like them all, especially the Jackson and the Schecter.

But then, a week ago, I bought a Mexican Fender Strat because I wanted some nicer cleans... Now I don't really have a reason to play any of my other guitars, except the Schecter.

I am amazed at the playability and overall quality this tiny 450€ guitar offers... I'm sold to Fender now... And I play death, black, thrash, progressive, blues, etc...

While I agree that a Strat can be non-metal (especially an Arctic White Strat like mine), I don't really care. I sounds good, feels good and plays nice.

Best regards

ok this is a sign that the dark side is taking you over. thats what happens when you buy your first fender strat. the transformation will be complete once the blues sets in and its all you want to play is blues. its coming, best not to fight it.
then once your fully converted, try a tele. once you do that its pretty much set in and there is no turning back, you will officially be a minister of the darkside. 8)
(welcome to the forums)

Hahaha, I do love to play the blues and I might get a Tele someday but I'm not that single-dimensioned

hey bro it just happens. i use to pledge allegiance to heavy metal daily back in the 80's.
it was everything metal. it was a way of life for me. back in those days i didnt play fender. i had a couple in the background but i never used them. i had a good thing going with charvels and jacksons. used 2 carvin stacks and had 2 has backups.
everything metal like i said. well time went on and i took a break from it all.
bought a fender strat and things started to change in a whole new direction.
later came the tele. man change came on so quick. (of course im skipping most of the story to get to the point) next thing i know, metal has lost its taste for me.
i hardly ever listen to the power chord kings, the speed demon guitarists that i use to love so much, and a bunch of them are personal friends. its everything clean or transparent OD tones now. i love my tele's and strats so much i cant even think of mudding them up, but let them sing as naturally as possible. i still have all my gear from way back packed in the next room here. i dont even bother with it anymore. the stacks havent been turned on in like 15 yrs. the darkside has totally taken over. man i know so many people that can tell the same story that i just did, but in their own way.
i guess i just found my way back to where it all started. dont worry it might take you some time before it happens lol. like i said, dont fight it, we will be here waiting on you when you arrive. you will love it. :)

Some people think its all about humbuckers and mid scoop.
Poppycock I say. Get the mids up and have a load of punch on the rhythm sound. Heavy as a pair of satans lead lined underpants.

Your totally right, I put my mids up full, people ask me how I get such a chunky tone and I say it's because I don't scoop my mids. Mids are also good for lead, gives it a nice warm lead tone. I actually turn my treble down to half, unlike most of the metal players I know who have them quite high.

I use My Jim Root Telecaster which is designed for metal, My MIM Standard Strat, and my Jag-Stang all for everything I play which is mainly metal. I obviously have my Jackson's, Charvel, Ibanez's and B.C. Rich's but I'd say my Fender's can pretty much do everything they can in the metal playing side.

Yeah, your right :) , thats the main reason I buy guitars, feel is the most important part of a guitar when it comes to buying for me. After owning 15 guitars in 8 years, selling 1 and trading another, I know that pretty well. I do still use all the 13 I have. I'm just letting people know that it's not impossible to get metal tones from guitars that "can't" do metal and that was the only way I could think to say it.
