i love guitars but no offense to people on this forum i just dont see the point in owning multiples of the same guitar. The way i see it i would rather have a strat, and a tele then two strats

I think you need to find the best strat for you and then try to sell a a few

Well they're all different. I own several guitars.......of the 12 or so guitars in my collection, 4 of them are Strats. Of the other guitars, I have only one of each model and I feel that's enough but Strats are different. Each Strat I own is different......an American Standard, a Classic Player '50's, a Road Worn '50's, and a modified MIM standard. They all have different pickups and different feels but I use them all. I may not pick up my Tele or Firebird or Les Paul or 335 unless I want a particular sound, but I make use of all my strats on a regular basis. I think, for me anyway, that I feel the most comfortable with a Strat and I love having a 335 and a Les Paul and Firebird for the times that I want something different, but Strats are what I really love and you can never have too many. Or at least I can't. If I break a string onstage, I'd rather be able to grab another Strat and carry on as to pick up a Les Paul or something that's totally different that I may not be as comfortable with. Then again, if I used a Les Paul as my #1, I'd probably want 3 or 4 of them too!

Hi KPI I have a love of Strats too although I only have 4.There is a point of having multiples of the same model as no 2 of my Strats sound the same.Although all have that unmistakable Strat quack there are great tonal differences, one may sound deeper compared to one that's very bright sounding. My rosewood board MIM Strat is brighter than my maple 50th Ann.(that blows one misconception out of the water in itself.)and some may sustain longer.
Re the Hendrix Strat:I'm a dyed in the wool Hendrix freak and I bought a lefty black rosewood cap Strat(like his first Monterey Strat)and flipped it to right hand,it makes a huge difference to anyone that plays Hendrix covers especially with the Whammy and controls up top.I can see why he never bought a lefty even when he could well afford to as it wouldn't have suited his playing style.

I keep telling the wife I'm going to start selling some of my guitars, but I don't think she believes me anymore. The problem is, which one first? At this point I own seven Strats, eight Teles and 36 "other" guitars. There's a lot of variation among both the Strats and the Teles, all have something unique to offer.

My wife and I went to see a new insurance agent last week and when we started talking about "Special Circumstances" or Collection Coverage, my wife asked me if I wanted her to leave the room! :D I said, sure, honey... this is something us men need to talk about.

I went 203 days without buying another guitar, but I relapsed four days ago, so now I am starting over. I'm seeing a therapist, but it's not helping. Do you have to want to be helped..?

I have two MIM Strats and I swear that they both have their own personalities and distinctive sound.
My black strat has more of a rock vibe to it while my agave blue strat has more of a blues jazzy vibe.
I'm sure I sound nuts.

My "therapist" is my former lead guitar player in Minnesota. He's a sweet guy who really thinks I have too many guitars and thinks I need to stop buying guitars and start selling them. I know I should stop buying them, but I'm no way ready to start selling any of them. My son says, it's okay Dad, I'll take care of them after you're gone...

I grew up poor. I love guitars... all guitars! :)

By this maxim, Monsieur AlainlaFrance is the clear winner. Over 100 now? Certainly the most amazing Custom Shop collection ever.

I have a shoe-collecting ex who thought Imelda Marcos was the pinnacle of footwear accumulation prowess. I see Alain in the same niche...

Ya must thing this way mate. As said before your wife got the shoes, you got the guitars.
Think about how many people around there are addiccted to collecting cars, now that is a real expansive hobby. Guitars for most expansive you can buy one, its not a car. Grab as many as you can before you die! GO GO GO!
