Hi Forums!!

I'm building a custom Fender Strat currently. I'm going to probably use Gotoh heads and trem in it. Does the bent metal make any diff. to sound?
I use the palm of picking hand to stop string nose, feedback etc. Does the bent metal give you more blisters?

thanks all!

Hi wax_lyrical, welcome to the Forum.

I notice nobody's replied to your simple question, so permit me. The conventional wisdom is that the bent steel saddles contribute to a more classic Fender "twang", far as the sound is concerned. Conversely the block steel ones with their higher mass are sometimes believed to give a little more sustain. Twang and sustain might be thought to be opposite tonal properties, so you might feel you want to choose between the two ends of this very short auditory spectrum.

Or you might decide that’s all a load of dingo's kidneys and go with the solid steel ones on account of finding a little more comfortable under the right hand if you palm mute a lot. Though the most useful thing as far as that is concerned is to see if you'd like to fit the saddles with shorter height adjustment screws so that they are flush with the surface of the metal and don't stick into your hand. You can do that which ever type of saddle you use.

Any help?

Cheers - C
