Hi everyone,

I like the crunch/dirt that the humbuckers provide on the Blacktop Strat, but I didn't really like the neck. However, the neck on the American Standard was awesome...smooth and easy to play. Unfortunately, the price point is a little high for me right now.

I know very little about guitar mods so bear with me. I know that I can get replacement parts (eventually after I save up some more)...is it possible to attach a American Standard neck to a Blacktop strat? Specifically, are they different in size, can I use the existing holes? Any problems?

Cheers!

USA Fender necks will fit MIM Fender bodies. :) Be aware that you will spend so much for a USA neck that the total price of your guitar will be getting near the new price of a USA Strat ;) Average price for a USA Fender neck on eBay will be upwards of $350-$400.

stratosphere is probably the best ebay shop for fender guitar parts.

American necks though are pretty expensive and you may just want to get an american HSS or you could buy a strat body that is routed for two humbuckers

Thanks for all of your advice. I didn't realize that the necks were so expensive...that's quite a shock! It's not something that I would do anytime soon but I was curious if it was possible in the future.

i nearly fell over when they were selling fender strat knobs for $40 +$8 delivery
i can get the fender(genuine) knobs for $18 + $6 delivery on a different store on ebay :?
i dont think i'll be looking any further for parts at that store.

Let the blacktop neck grow on you a bit first....you could take it to a guitar teck and se if he can address your issues with it. What exactly is it you don't like?

It's not that I didn't like it, the Am Std was just soooo much nicer to play. The Blacktop neck wasn't as smooth or quick. The Am Std just felt like it was an extension of my hand....weird but true!
