A guy is offering me this lovely looking sunburst MIM Fat Strat.

Was wondering about its authenticity. How ever I don't have a picture of the back of the headstock to see if they have the PING tuners that real MIM'S have.

He told me the serial number is MN535460

Is it weird that it doesnt say made in mexico and the serial number isnt on the headstock?

The logo also seems a bit off centre doesnt it?

Edit: Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry, I am on my mobile phone and the pics are too small for me to tell. Based on the SN it depicts a MIM guitar manufactured in 1995. When I get home, I will run the nmbers through project guitar dater, but this will only state if there was a guitar made with that SN, not confirm authenticity.

This was an MIM Strat model that I think was called the "Special"; it kind of predated the MIM Deluxe series of Strats. The serial number and "Made in Mexico" is on the back of the headstock on this model. I think it was only made for about 2 years before they came out with the other Deluxe models later in the 1990s. That mini-toggle is a coil split switch.

There was also a Tele model; it had a neck humbucker, bridge single coil and used a vintage-style 3-saddle bridge.

Oh sweet a coil split. I thought it was a missing Tone knob haha.

Okay.

Do you think its worth shelling out 300 canadian bones for this with a oversized hardcase.

Deadline is tomorrow at about 11am Toronto time.

What would you guys pay for it considering everthings i good condition.

Looks good. I'm in Oakville Ontario.
I have two MM Strats and wouldn't trade them.

Sounds about right; they would go for over $300 with a case here in the USA.

$300 is a fair price I think.
That's what I paid for each of my MM Strats.
it's a nice looking piece and if I had the chance I'd scoop it up.

Man I just got a 1995-1996 MIM standard start and it is amazing! If the one you are buying is set up good and in good condition then it will serve you well. To me it doesn't matter where it's made
