Just because you have never cared about your mid-90s stratocaster and have kicked it down the stairs spilled beer on it your friends do what ever they want to it when they are drunk does NOT make your guitar a ROAD WORN or RELIC guitar and it does not make it worth $1000 you MORONS. Also if your guitar is a Fender Starcaster it is not the same as a Fender Stratocaster. Sometimes I think you should have to fill out an application or a IQ test before buying a Fender.
I think Im better now I just had to get it out. :D

Thing is, if they actually passed an IQ test, they wouldn't be buying a Fender in the first place. :P

See like this guy here,on the Fender forum insulting his own IQ.

It brings new meaning to the saying, "Ignorance is bliss."

i cant imagine if we were all in the same spot at the same time.
could you remember anything that we talked about after? lol
the brain would be a solid buzz. we would have to meet up at a local guitar center after hours or something. it would get crazy cool ya know.

Reading the whole thread, I understand the topic now. Sorry when you only have a few minutes during lunch to read topics, sometimes the I do not put the title of the thread in with the 1st post.

I too am tired of people selling their Squiers or Starcasters as Fender Stratocasters. I feel that they bought it or it was a gift, sell it for what it is. It would be the same as trying to sale a 1/64 scale of the Empire State Building as the real thing, not disclosing the scale. Very cheeky in my opinion.

An abused guitar does not equal a Road Worn and a Starcaster is not a Stratocaster.

The 2001 is mint but the 2001 has a couple of small dings in them which bother the he'll out of me although it would bother me more if I had done it.
I spent ere years in the military when I was younger and I need things to be perfect and polished so I could never own a road worn guitar.
As far as an IQ test I agree should be the same kind of screening process as adopting an animal and if you don't look after your Start the wY it deserves someone will come and remove it and place it in a loving and caring him.

What branch of service? What did you do? Where were you stationed?

Man I ran out of popcorn... I empathize with the OP. I have an unhealthy habit of browsing the local Craiglslist and Ebay daily just to see whats out there. I don't need another guitar but its nice to know what reasonable price I might get for one of mine if I needed to sell one. I just laugh at some of these ads now because they are all too common. Maybe we should start a thread for "What were they thinking?" when they posted the ad. It could be entertaining.

I think that the "Lounge" would be a more appropriate place for rants and other goofy topics (like this thread). Seems like a lot of useless nonsensical posts have been clogging the other parts of the forums lately that should be on the Lounge part of the forum, if anywhere.

Not necessary tdanb2003, you may be right, could be an interesting thread, just more appropriate in the Lounge IMO. 8)

Maybe another interesting Lounge topic might be: "Has anyone noticed a troll epidemic on the Fender Forums lately?"
