That's my son, twenty-some years ago. I remember, I had just told him that I saw an ad in the paper for a beat up old Squier for sale for $1,000. He immediately started whining and crying about it. Now that he is grown up, he laughs when I tell him about the same type of thing.

does he play now? just imagine if you had bought him a older strat at that time and kept it in a case and sealed, what that thing would have been worth on his 21st birthday. :)

Just because you have never cared about your mid-90s stratocaster and have kicked it down the stairs spilled beer on it your friends do what ever they want to it when they are drunk does NOT make your guitar a ROAD WORN or RELIC guitar and it does not make it worth $1000 you MORONS. Also if your guitar is a Fender Starcaster it is not the same as a Fender Stratocaster. Sometimes I think you should have to fill out an application or a IQ test before buying a Fender.
I think Im better now I just had to get it out. :D

Thing is, if they actually passed an IQ test, they wouldn't be buying a Fender in the first place. :P

I bought two used MM Starts one is a 2001 and the other a 2004
The 2001 is mint but the 2001 has a couple of small dings in them which bother the he'll out of me although it would bother me more if I had done it.
I spent ere years in the military when I was younger and I need things to be perfect and polished so I could never own a road worn guitar.
As far as an IQ test I agree should be the same kind of screening process as adopting an animal and if you don't look after your Start the wY it deserves someone will come and remove it and place it in a loving and caring him.

I'm just a guitar picker. As far as I'm concerned, a used guitar is still just a used guitar.

Like the old saying goes, when I'm buying, it's used, when I'm selling, it's a classic.

WOW
I didn't think this would go to 3 pages. Well to those who understand that i had to vent to someone. Thanks. I was not pointing a finger at anyone on the forum. This thread was just my OPINION and where I live I have the right to have an opinion. I dont believe I broke any forum rules. So to those who disagree with me GREAT I would love to hear your OPINION. But be respectful to everyone and their believes. I just do not like it when people try to take advantage of others over something as simple as a used guitar. I understand you may need money (who dosen't?) but be reasonable when you try to sell. By reading everyones post i know Im not alone on how I feel. I hope everyone has a great day. (any day above ground its a great day)

It's all good. From what I can tell, manyof the folks here agree with you to one extent or another and are just having a little fun with the topic.

Besides, we always go way off on tangents from the OP's original statement(s); it's kind of expected.

hey at least we let the OP concerns get answered fully and respectfully, before we wonder off on something else. :P

Actually, if you think about it, it is truly casual conversation. Consider a group of people sitting around shooting the breeze. Regardless of the primary topic, that conversation is going to go in many different directions. So at the very least, we are a most sociable lot. :D
