Anyone click on the Derek and the Dominos Link on the Fender front page. Looks like the 40th anniversary edition of the album comes with a pickguard painted like the album cover.

I see it in the pic, but didn't see it mentioned in the article.

Well, there wasn't any better pictures on line I could find because it will not be released until the 26th of next month, but I did see that Amazon.com has the deluxe set on pre-order sale for 98.23 with free shipping.
If you click on there picture and zoom in 3 times, you can get a good idea, but it's still an off angle shot.

Seems like a good deal for all you get with it.

Would have been better to have a pickguard with the back of the album...a Strat within a Strat

Still pretty cool though.

Don't remind me about the 40 years...my first concert was D& T D's and the first album I ever bought was Layla...took me years to get that song down

I know,it's a tough song to get sounding right.
A friend of mine grew up with Bobby Whitlock and asked him why he and Eric Clapton parted company,Bobby told him he was staying in England with Clapton and took a ride in an expensive sports car that Eric owned, evidently he was trashed and also totalled the car,Eric told him that was enough and to leave.
Everybody in that band is gone now except Bobby and Eric....I don't know about Jim Gordon, last I heard he was in a mental institution for killing his mother.

I heard that too. And at last check yes Jim Gordon is in a federal prison in California for killing his mother...he is in the mental side of the big house.

Too bad about Bobby and Eric, I think they made a great song writing duo. He really brought out some good song writing in EC...and Duane and the rest of the crew certainly helped too  ...wow, going to have to play some Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad tomorrow

A friend who knows Bonnie Bramlett posted a youtube vid of Delaney and Bonnie and friends last week on Facebook, onstage with D&B was Whitlock,Radle,Gordon,Clapton and George Harrison!..it's a B/W kind of poor quality but historic nontheless.
Delaney and Bonnie played with an incredible bunch of people, also Duane Allman and even Jimi Hendrix.
They should have written a book,Bonnie is cool and I would like to just ask her lots of questions, but don't want to be a pest....I'll find a link to the vid.

T2Stratman,
Listen for Duane's "Joy to the World" lick in "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad",I'm sure you know that, you seem to be knowledgable about them. Some people think Duane only played slide on the Layla album, for those that know his playing, you can hear his straight guitar playing.
