sorry, i dont know if it helps, its a highway one, with vintage bridge. changed to 10s, diadarios. however, strings were meant for a 7 string guitar.10-.46.
the nex day i called my friend at gc and said it was ok to change using those strings.

I can't see where changing string guage would cause static. Do you mean electrical static? Or are you talking about string buzz?

Try a different cord.

thats what i was wondering... static in the amp could just be caused by the pickups getting a signal from an electronic device or something, but if theres string buzz, then you may have to adjust a few things to get it to correct the problem

I can't see where that would cause static either. Maybe a more detailed explanation would help?

sorry, what i was refering to as static was in no way fret buzz.
the audible sound in the amp was static, not continous however going up and down the board. it seems to be intermitent now. i thought maybe it was recieving signal from electronics.

Have you moved the amp? Are there other electrical things on the same circuit as the amp that are turned on too? Did you do any other things to the guitar?
